In today’s post the focus will be: “How to set goals to succeed in business and network marketing”.
Before you get started to set goals, you must know exactly where you want to go and what exactly you want to achieve.
You need to understand:
WHY you are aiming for What you want to achieve … having your end goal in mind
WHERE you want to go in your life and
HOW you will get there where you want to go … having a clear plan of action
Goal setting in business and network marketing will help you to understand the WHY and WHERE.
To reach this, visualize your goals every day in a way as if you had already achieved your goals. This way you condition your mind to move past any obstacle which is holding you back in your life.
You need to set achievable goals and/or break down your end goal into small steps. Before you will be able to do that, you need to answer the following questions:
WHAT do you want to achieve?
To answer this question, you have to think about your real desires and what do you want achieve in your life. Write this down for yourself ….
WHY do you want it?
If you didn’t want to reach anything, you wouldn’t have any motivation to move forward. To have money can’t be the real motivator; money can only help you to change your life.
How will you get there?
In network marketing you need to talk to people to move forward. Either you need to present your products or your business opportunity to more people. The main question at this stage could be How do you find more people to talk to? And which activities do you need to do, to get there?
Your goal could be to find 2 people per day to talk to.
Answering the above questions will help you step out of your comfort zone and do the activities needed to achieve your goals.
How to set goals to succeed in business and network marketing
If you have any type of business or you are a network marketer it is important to be extremely focused on growth and you need to have clear goals. Using SMART Goals is a great way to ensure that your goals are clear, positive and measurable.
What are SMART goals?
SMART is an acronym for a specific set of criteria to apply to your goals. It stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time Bound.
What makes SMART goals smart to use?
Very often our goals are a bit vague and it’s impossible to measure whether we hit them or not. To avoid this, goals need to be specific. The statement “I will grow my business” is not very specific. How will you know if and when you have reached your goal? If you said “I will grow my business by 10% “, this is more specific. At least you know what your goal is and what you need to do to achieve it.
To be even more specific you need to be able to measure your results. If you wanted to get more leads or prospects for your network marketing business “generate more leads” would be only a statement. A measurable objective would be “I will generate 10 new leads next month.
Goals need to be realistic and you need to be able to achieve your goal. It’s okay to think big, but if your goal would be to make 10.000 € in your first month in your new network marketing business – this is unrealistic. Goals have to be within reach “I want to make 3.000 € per month within 12 months in my new business”, sounds a little bit more achievable.
It’s okay to have big dreams, but it is important to be realistic and evaluate yourself. Do you have the drive, ability and commitment to make your dreams come true? Or do they need a little adjustment? You want to become a 6-figure earner within one year. That is a great goal but it might rather take three to five years or more and a lot of work in small steps to ever reach this goal.
Goals need to have a clearly set time frame. Having a deadline in place will give your goals structure. Many people want to grow their business. Most people spend a lot of time talking about what they want to do, someday. But, without a clear end date stated there is no sense of urgency and no reason to take action today.
Here an example of the goal: “I want to grow my business” using a Broad Goal:
I will find three new partners/team mates for my network marketing business and will measure my progress by how many new team mates I bring on, while maintaining my current partner base.
I will ask existing customers for referrals, launch a social media campaign and go to every networking event in my area. Additional clients in my business will allow me to grow my business and increase my revenue.
Now the same approach using a SMART Goal:
I will find three new partners/team mates for my network marketing business within two months by asking for referrals, launching a social media campaign, and go to every networking event in my area. This will allow me to grow my business and increase my revenue.
When you review the SMART goal, you will notice that this goal has several sub-goals, specific actions that need to take place in order to accomplish the overall goal. Each of these sub-goals has to be applied to meet the SMART goal criteria.
